One of the most common questions from aspiring cloud professionals in India is: "How much does Azure certification cost?" The answer has two parts — the Microsoft exam fee itself, and the training course fee. This post breaks both down clearly.

Microsoft Azure Exam Fees in India (2026)

Microsoft prices most Azure role-based certification exams (Associate and Expert level) at USD 165 per attempt globally, regardless of your country. Fundamentals-level exams like AZ-900 are priced lower, at USD 99. In India, you pay this amount in USD via the Pearson VUE portal at the current conversion rate.

The INR equivalent varies with the USD/INR rate at the time of booking. At 83–84 INR/USD, each exam costs approximately ₹13,700–₹13,900. Always check the Pearson VUE checkout page for the exact INR amount.

Microsoft Exam Retake Policy

If you do not pass on the first attempt, Microsoft allows retakes with these conditions:

  • First retake: can be taken after 24 hours
  • Second retake onwards: 14-day waiting period between attempts
  • Maximum 5 attempts per exam within a 12-month period
  • After 5 failed attempts: must wait 12 months from the date of the 5th attempt
  • Each retake costs the full exam fee (~₹13,750) again

Free Mock Exam at CTT

For serious candidates, the most cost-effective path is to invest in a structured live training course, practice with free mock exams, and attempt the exam once well-prepared — rather than attempting cheaply and paying for multiple retakes.

How to Reduce Your Azure Certification Cost

  1. 1Use the free Microsoft Learn self-paced modules to supplement your training (official and free)
  2. 2Practice with free mock exams at cloudtechtrainings.com/exams/ before booking the real exam
  3. 3Look for Microsoft promotional discounts — occasionally offered after completing a Microsoft Virtual Training Day (free)
  4. 4Consider a training bundle that covers AZ-104 + AZ-400 + AZ-305 in a single course to avoid paying for three separate training programs
  5. 5Book your exam at least 2 weeks out to allow time for revision; don't rush

Tip: Free Azure Practice Exams

CloudTechTrainings offers free 60-question mock exams for AZ-104, AZ-900, AZ-400, and AZ-305 — no account required. Taking these before your real exam is one of the best ways to identify weak areas and avoid paying for a retake.
